Bomber Command Memorial

Yesterday we were privileged to visit the new Bomber Command Memorial Centre in Lincoln.  It is still very much under construction but the Spire is up and the walls of names of those who died whilst serving with Bomber Command are there.  The view is awesome, looking across Lincoln to the Cathedral.  It is a quiet, reflective place and I took the time to remember my mother’s beloved brother, who she talked about so much that I feel that I knew him.  My dad also served with Bomber Command but his name isn’t on those walls.  He survived.  More pics on Flickr

It’s going to be a great place when it’s finished. Stew and I wil have to go, maybe when it’s a bit warmer.

Should have said, it’s about time Bomber Command had a memorial in Lincolnshire.

  4. What a solemn beautiful place. And it’s great to see all your (sadly very cold) faces… hugs.
